Update from Onsite, December 2018
November 30, 2018 Stacey Sinclair

This month the team hit their first big milestone, completing the demolition of the old facilities.   As you can see in the video, it doesn’t take long to knock down an old building to make way for a positive future! The team are now completing the soil remediation works to make the ground ready for the slabs and have started digging the stormwater drainage and pouring the tilt panels that will make up the development’s walls.

At this stage of the project it always seems like a long, slow slog, but when the team get out of the ground progress will appear to speed up as the slab goes down and the walls start going up.

Also this month, Club President – Terry Holmes, Lifetime Member – Jackie Doyle, and Club members – Peter Glancy and Brian Cosford joined Niclin Group Managing Director – Nick Cave and The Hon Tim Mander and The Hon Mark Furner on site for an official sod turning. The ceremony was a great success and resulted in an article in the Courier Mail (Paywall).

Despite the heat, we were very lucky with the weather at the event.  After our guests left, the site experienced some wild weather which caused some of the fencing and the portable facilities to fall over (and spare a thought for Niclin Group Apprentice, Corey, who bravely volunteered to return the Porta-Loo to its rightful, upright position).
